Andy Murray joins Federer, Nadal & Djokovic on elite list of players to win 500 hard court matches

Murray had played six matches in 2024 prior to his match against Denis Shapovolov and won just one.

Milestone maker Andy Murray has no idea what stopping is. Since his hip surgery in 2018, the 3-time Grand Slam champion has had several ups and downs. Failing to have an impact, a down-and-out Murray announced his potential retirement in 2019.

However, the Scot, who has no quit in him, quickly retracted that. Five years later, Murray entered the court at the Dubai Open 2024 with just one win in two months. He quickly went down a set to talented Canadian Denis Shapovalov. But metal-hip Murray wasn’t done.

He fought back and won the next two sets to move to the quarterfinals and also joined an elite list. The Scot becomes just the fifth player in ATP history to win 500 hard-court matches. He joins the elite company of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andre Agassi on the list of players with over 500 wins on the surface.

Most wins on hard courts (ATP)

783: Roger Federer
700: Novak Djokovic
592: Andre Agassi
518: Rafael Nadal
500: Andy Murray
