Alexander Zverev fumes with ‘domestic violence’ question after 4:40 hr Australian Open match

Zverev was also unhappy after he was asked about his election to the ATP player council after his win in the first round.

After a grueling 5-set match against Lukas Klein in the second round of the Australian Open 2024, Alexander Zverev was left unhappy after a question by a journalist. After a comeback win in 4 hours and 40 minutes, the Olympic gold medalist attended the mandatory post-match press conference.

It’s no secret in the tennis community that Alexander Zverev has been accused of domestic violence by his former partner, Brenda Patea, with whom he has a daughter. However, things took a turn when Patea decided to file a court case against the ATP star.

Just days ago, it was revealed that Zverev would be undergoing a trial in May. The significance of the timing is that the French Open is held during the timing frame, and if called, the player may miss the second slam of the year.

A reporter in the Australian Open 2024 press conference asked him, “Regarding your upcoming trial, do you plan to attend in person?”

To this, the unhappy player replied, “Wow. That’s a question. I just played four hours, 40 minutes. That’s not the first question I really want to hear, to be honest. I’ve got no idea. It’s in May.”
