His hitting has been phenomenal, as we saw in the T20I series against South Africa. It will not be easy for Ravindra Jadeja to come in and take his place.”

Notably, Karthik was seen in sublime touch in the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against South Africa. He scored 92 runs at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 158.62. On the other hand, Jadeja had a horrendous run in IPL 2022 for Chennai Super Kings. He scored only 116 runs at an average of 19.33, while with the ball, he picked up only 5 wickets.
“India might settle for someone like Axar Patel to play as a specialist spinner, because now they have Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik batting down the order. Rishabh Pant is there as well, so it is not going to be easy for Jadeja. But knowing the kind of fighter that Jadeja is, he will make sure that the headaches don’t get any less for the selectors,” Manjrekar further added.
