KL Rahul had yet another dismal outing with the bat. The India vice-captain managed a run-a-ball 5 before being dismissed by Chris Woakes in just the second over of the game. The 30-year-old once again edged a rising delivery outside the off stump, with Jos Buttler taking a simple catch to bring curtains on Rahul’s innings.
It continued a worrying trend of failures for Rahul against top sides in the T20 World Cup. In the five games against the top teams in the T20 World Cup, the Indian opener only has one double-digit score. His strike rate is well below par, inviting pressure on the team to make up for the false start.
While his struggles against quality attacks continue, Rahul has managed to get runs under his belt against ‘weaker’ bowling attacks. The Indian vice-captain has five 50+ scores in six games against the minnows, with two coming in this edition of the T20 World Cup.
