Sindhu, who is on a mission to make a comeback after disappointing outings in the German Open and All England Open started off the game on a good note. She started dominating her opponent right from the start. She entered the first set break with a terrific 11-3 lead.
Michelle Li couldn’t even get a hold in the game as Sindhu was too strong with her shots. The Indian continued her assault after the break and was crusing with a 17-5 lead. However an error from the Indian gave space for Li to make a small comeback. The World No.7 has 13 match points but the Canadian stretched the game by winning three points before losing the set 21-10.

In the second set, Michelle Li took an early lead of 3-0. But Sindhu soon came back and continued from where she left off. Couple of errors from Li helped her take 6-4 lead. Sindhu then entered the break with a 11-9 lead.
However, trailing behind 9-14, Michelle Li put up a brave fight as she levelled the score 14-14. From then on a neck-to-neck battle ensued. The game went to 19-19. Sindhu however kept her calm and took the lead. She then closed the game with a brilliant cross-court smash to seal a spot in the semifinals. Sindhu will face unseeded Thailand’s unseeded Supanida Katethong on Saturday. Being the only player in the Top 10 rankings at BWF 300 tournament, she will look to win the championship to clinch her second BWF crown in 2022.
