Smith makes double money –
The Kings Road house went under the hammer on Thursday evening, with competition from two buyers pushing the price well above the $6.6 (Rs35 Cr) million that Smith and partner Dani Willis bought the block for in 2020.
The pair has transformed the home in the short time frame, turning it into a far more luxurious residence by McKim Design.
Four parties registered to bid on the four-bedroom, three-bathroom house, and bidding opened with an offer of $11.5 (Rs60 Cr) million.
Auctioneer Damien Cooley, of Cooley Auctions, then asked for minimum bids of $250,000 (Rs 1.3 Cr) before adjusting that to $100,000 (Rs 54 Lakhs) increases when the crowd held back.
Bidding rose in $100,000 (Rs 54 lakhs) jumped to $12 million (Rs 64 Cr), with a family from the north shore and another from the eastern suburbs competing for the house.
“I can’t sell it at this number,” Cooley told the crowd when bidding stalled at the $12 (Rs 64 Cr) million mark.
From there the offers climbed in $50,000 ((Rs 27 lakhs) jumps to $12.35 ((Rs 64 Cr) million. A final $30,000 raise, after Cooley again knocked back smaller increases, took the bidding to the $12.38 (Rs 65 Cr) million sale price.

Smith involved in Test series against Sri Lanka-
- Steve Smith is currently involved in the Test series against Sri Lanka and also served as temporary skipper for Australia last in an Ashes match.
- Smith’s Australian side leads the two-match Test series 1-0 and will need a draw to win back-to-back Test series away from home.
- As things stand he will take field on Friday against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test.
- Smith will be expected to fly back to Australia when the series gets over.
