Chameera who was on Sri Lanka’s workload management list has been kept only on ODI and T20 squads. The other notable omission from Test squad is Wanindu Hasaranga, the current Purple Cap holder of IPL 2022.
Hasaranga last played a Test match back in 2021 against Bangladesh at home while Chameera played against West Indies last year at home.
Meanwhile, impressive batting display in the IPL 2022 has seen Bhanuka Rajapaksa make a return to the ODI & T20 sides.

However, Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka still doubtful due to the island nation’s financial crisis. While Sri Lanka Cricket requested Cricket Australia to play the Test matches before the white-ball games, CA has denied it.
The SLC wanted to rejig the schedule due to an acute fuel shortage in the country. With Day/Night matches taking place, the Sri Lankan board would have needed fuel to run emergency generators. If the Test matches were to be played before the white-ball series, SLC would have had enough time to arrange for fuel and other stocks.
SLC Secretary Mohan de Silva said that the board would take a call on how to hold the white-ball games. Instead of Day/Night, the ODI and T20I matches could now be a Day affair.
