India’s only remaining players in the tournament kept the hopes alive by progressing to the final. They defeated the Malaysian duo in an enthralling semifinal that lasted one hour and nine minutes. With the win, they drawn level 3-3 with Ong and Teo in head-to-head record.
The Indian pair started the contest on a positive note. They took lead early in the first game and entered the mid-game interval with a three-point cushion. The Indian pair continued to mainatin their lead despitet challenge from the Malaysians.
However successive net errors from the Indian side mad ethem lose their lead. Trailing 17-19, the Indians held their nerves and sealed three back-to-back points to get to the game point. At 20-19, Teo Ee Yi failed to return a shot helping the Indians win the first game.
In the second game, the Malaysian pair fought back and led right from the start. They entered the mid-game interval with 11-7 lead. Despite a good effort from Satwik and Chirag they failed to take the lead as the Malaysian pair won the second game 21-17 and took the contest into the decider.
In the third game, the Indian duo came back strong and from 7-7, they managed to take four successive points to enter the interval with a 11-7 lead. They continued to dominate after the change of ends and raced away to a 17-10 lead. However the Malaysian pair fought well and reduced their deficit to just two points with the score at 19-17.
However two back-to-back net-errors from the third seeded pair helped the Indians seal the contest and enter the final.
