Kidambi Srikanth vs Kenta Nishimoto
Srikanth lost to top seed Japanese shuttler Kenta Nishimoto 18-21, 15-21 in the quarter-finals.Srikanth fought well at the start of the game. He managed to take a slender 6-5 lead in the first game. However a net-error from the Indian helped Nishimoto take 7-6 lead. The Japanese took the momentum in his favour and took successive points. He managed to enter the interval with 11-9 lead. Srikanth continued to trail after the interval as Nishimoto sealed the first game 21-18.
In the second game too Sikanth fought hard at the start. But Nishimoto yet again manged to eke out a 11-8 lead. From then on the Jpanese started to dominate. Srikanth too on his part committed way too many errors that gave the Japanese a 21-15 win in the second game.
Women’s Singles
PV Sindhu vs Mia Blichfeldt
Sindhu entered her first-ever semifinal in the BWF Tour this year. After a sedate start to the match, the former world champion slowly made a comebck in the first game. She managed to take a 11-10 lead to enter the mid-game interval. From then on she completely dominated the second half and clinched the first game 21-14.
Sindhu trailed for most of the second game. She was behind 6-11 by the mid-game interval. Even after the break, Blichfeldt was leading 16-13. However, Sindhu trook four successive points to take the lead. She then took the upper hand and closed out the contest in straight games.
