Badminton Asia Championships Highlights: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty create history, win historic gold in Badminton Asian Championships 2023 – Watch Highlights

The star Indian men’s doubles pair of Rankireddy and Shetty made history by clinching the Badminton Asia Championships gold medal on Sunday. It is India’s second medal at the tournament since 1965 and their first in the men’s doubles category.

They defeated Ong Yew Sin-Teo Eo Yi, the Malaysian duo, 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 in the final. The India duo lost the first game. But they made a comeback worth remembering in the next two games to clinch the title.

The Indian pair were at Number 5 last December. The Aisan Championship win has helped them to regain their best-ever rankings. They displaced China’s Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi.

MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila also made a rise in the rankings. TRhey went up four places and are now currently at the 23rd spot. Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala jumped one spot and are at the 37th position.

Treesa Jolly and Gayartri Gopichand are at the 17th spot in the Women’s Doubles rankings. They have moved up two places. Meanwhile PV Sindhu went down to the 12th spot after her quarterfinal exit from the Asian Championships. HS Prannoy retains his ranking as the World No.9 in Men’s Singles. Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth have moved up one spots and are at the 22nd and 23rd positions respectively.
