Sony’s PlayStation 5 hits the sales benchmark of 10 million units. Sony’s next-gen console PlayStation 5 has been a huge success globally. Its futuristic design and strong hardware capabilities made it an instant hit among gamers. Though the PlayStation 5 became hugely popular in the gaming industry, getting your hands on one is very difficult. As of today, the PlayStation 5 officially crosses the 10 million units sold mark. The Japanese tech giant was able to sell around 4.5 million units by the end of the previous year. The sales figures kept on increasing in 2021 and hit 7.8 million unit sales globally in the first quarter. Sony was able to maintain the number of sales despite the global supply shortage of the semiconductors that are needed for advanced microchips. Sony recently revealed in an announcement that PlayStation 5 has hit the 10 million sales mark, which averages around 40,000 units sold, every single day, globally!

PlayStation 5 has outperformed its closest competitor, the Xbox Series X/S by several million in terms of sales. CEO of Sony, Jim Ryan said, “While PS5 has reached more households faster than any of our previous consoles, we still have a lot of work ahead of us as demand for PS5 continues to outstrip supply.

The PlayStation 5 is finally back in stock for the sixth time and gamers can currently pre-order the next-gen console from all big retailers including Amazon, Flipkart and Reliance digital. The PlayStation 5 Disc edition is currently priced at Rs. 49,990 and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition retails for Rs. 39,990.
