As per reports, the Sri Lanka Cricket Association had invited the former International to take up the coaching duties of the national team against Australia in the upcoming ODI and T20I series. And according to www.sportspavilion.lk, the former pacer has agreed to take up the new role.

With reports emerging that Lasith Malinga is set to become the bowling coach in the limited over format. The former pacer has previously served as the bowling strategy coach of the Sri Lanka team.
Malinga has been previously successful in his coaching job. Being the bowling strategy coach for Sri Lanka against Australia last February, he has done an incredible job for the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.

After a long stint with Mumbai Indians, Lasith Malinga joined Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2022 to join the one-time IPL champions as their bowling coach. Huge credit is to be attributed to Lasith Malinga after the exploits of the Rajasthan outfits in the recently concluded IPL 2022 season.

Rajasthan Royals ended their campaign being the runners-up. RR ended their group stage second behind Gujarat Titans. RR then lost the Qualifiers 1 against the Gujarat outfits and then sealed their spot in the finals by defeating RCB in Qualifiers 2. At the finals, RR bowed to the debutant champions Gujarat Titans.
