The Professional Tennis Players Association is an association of male and female tennis players founded by the players Vasek Pospisil and Novak Djokovic in 2019. According to the statement released by the PTPA, “The PTPA is committed to ensure that Simona Halep, like all other tennis players, has a fair trial during the entire process,”.  “We will fight for her rights and try to insist on transparency for all other tennis players,” the statement read.

Halep underwent the dope test during the US Open this year in which she suffered a first round exit. The result of the dope test was given out only on Friday.

Soon after testing positive, Halep described the ban as the “biggest shock of her life” in a post she shared on her social media handles.  “Throughout my whole career, the idea of cheating never even crossed my mind once, as it is totally against all the values I have been educated with. Facing such an unfair situation, I feel completely confused and betrayed,” she wrote on Twitter.

“I will fight until the end to prove that I never knowingly took any prohibited substance and I have faith that sooner ort later, the truth will come out,” she added.

Halep is currently the World No.9 and has won two Grand Slam titles. Last month, Halep decided to end her season as she decided to undergo nose surgery to improve her breathing.
