It is a welcome back into the India Cricket Team squad for Shreyas Iyer. The dependable middle-order batter returns for the Men in Blue after a 3-match break following the conclusion of the ODI World Cup. In the IND vs AUS 4th T20I, Shreyas Iyer has come on to replace Tilak Varma.
Shreyas Iyer’s inclusion in the India Playing XI vs Australia is no surprise. Iyer is a dependable batter and has flourished and showcased his batting in the ODI World Cup. After the World Cup, he was given rest for 3 matches much like the other seniors in the squad. But now he is back in the squad and will settle in at the Number 3 spot and will be the deputy to Suryakumar Yadav.
Nothing is against Tilak Varma. The destructive southpaw has been good in the previous three matches, where he has scored some crucial runs by playing a couple of cameo roles.
But when the likes of senior players like Shreyas Iyer return to the team, it will be the youngster who gets benched. The inclusion of Iyer in the team not only improves India’s batting tremendously but also brings in the much-needed experience in a rather young Indian batting lineup.
Shreyas Iyer’s preferred spot in Number 4, but in this match with Ishan Kishan paving the way for Jitesh Sharma, Iyer will come in at number 3 while the skipper and World Number 1 T20I atter Suryakumar Yadav will occupy the Number 4 spot.
