Nine Entertainment Co. have announced that they are making a miniseries on the life and times of the iconic leg-spinner, who died on March 4 whilst being on a vacation in Thailand’s Koh Samui, suspected because of a cardiac arrest.

The head of drama of Nine Entertainment Co., Andy Ryan confirmed that the project is in its early stages and will capture an unfiltered view of the flamboyant life of Warne. “Warnie’s life was so full of drama, like the man himself. This miniseries will be larger than life – entertaining, confronting, thought-provoking. We want to explore what made Warnie so special, and why he had such a powerful effect on people,” Ryan said, as per quotes in The Sydney Morning Herald.
“He was a sporting legend, a national treasure, international kind of icon, but he was also a larrikin, a rogue and a charmer and a flawed man. The national outpouring of grief over his passing had shown us – if we needed telling – just what a sort of impact he’s had on the national conversation,” he further added.

On Sunday, a private farewell was organized for Warne at the St Kilda Football Club in Melbourne. Reportedly, 80 people attended that farewell, including Warne’s parents and children. A state memorial service has been arranged for March 30 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is likely to be attended by many cricketers including the likes of David Warne.
