Chasing a modest target of 161 on a good batting pitch, Australia were off to a flying start. Shane Watson was on the assault as Australia Legends scored 77/1 in the powerplay. While Watson and Ben Dunk continued to hammer, a double-wicket 8th over saw the tempo drop for a bit. Watson departed off Stephen Parry in the 8th over, smashing 26-ball 47, laced with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes.
However, despite the two quick wickets, there was no shortage of entertainment. Ben Dunk scored 42 off just 13 deliveries at an incredible strike rate of 323.08. His knock included 3 fours and 4 sixes as he blew the English attack away.
Stuart Meaker, Rikki Clarke, Jade Dernbach and Chris Schofield all went for over 15 per over. Stephen Parry was the only successful bowler with 3/30 in his four overs. But Brad Hodge applied the finishing touch with 16-ball 33, completing the chase in just 13.4 overs with 6 wickets to spare.
Earlier, batting first, England posted 160/6. Despite a good start from Phil Mustard (34 off 24), England lost steam in the middle overs. Dimitri Mascarenhas scored a sluggish 13 off 14. While Darren Maddy kept the pressure on with a 23-ball 34, they could not match Australia. In the end, James Tindall (10 off 5) and Chris Tremlett (16 off 12) took England Legends to 160/6.
