Chasing a mammoth target of 223, Delhi Capitals were off to a good target with Prithvi Shaw and David Warner bringing up a 43-run stand. But DC were dealt a blow when they lost Warner and soon Sarfaraz Khan too was dismissed.
Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant kept DC in chase with a 51-run partnership. But DC lost the rhythm with Prithvi Shaw departing. While Pant kept DC in the hunt but he too fell in the 12th over and that dealt a big blow as DC kept on losing wickets without substantial partnerships.

But it was Rovmann Powell who breathed new life in the game when DC needed 36 off the last over. He smashed three back to back sixes off fellow West Indian Obed McCoy before a brief interruption.
The third ball seemed above the waist height and the entire DC dugout came running. Rishabh Pant even called back Powell and Kuldeep before coach Pravin Amre rushed to the field. But the decision remained unchanged and the break in the momentum worked for RR as McCoy managed to restrict DC to 207/8.

Earlier, it was another Jos Buttler show as he smashed his third century of IPL 2022. His 65-ball 116 helped Rajasthan Royals post 222/2, the highest of IPL 2022. He was well supported by Devdutt Padikkal (54 off 35) and Sanju Samson’s 19-ball 46.
Sent to bat, Rajasthan Royals were off to a slow start with Padikkal and Buttler playing the early swing deliveries cautiously. However, the two got going from the 6th over and there was no looking back. Jos Buttler smashed his third century of IPL 2022 to breathe on Virat Kohli’s kneck who scored 4 in IPL 2016.
