Tributes pour in – The announcement was made by Ross early in January when he decided to retire from Test and limited-over format. The Test series against Bangladesh turned out to be his last while the Netherlands series was his last in the ODI format. Tributes poured in from all corners of the cricketing fraternity, including former teammates, current teammates, opposition camp players.

Big names pay their tribute – Legendary India player and current head coach Rahul Dravid shared a memory of Ross Taylor from their time together in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp back in 2008. Dravid admired the professional nature of his former colleague and congratulated him for the contburtion he gave to New Zealand cricket.

Virat Kohli’s message to Ross – The former India captain Virat Kohli also took to the occasion and congratulated Ross for his career, which lasted 16 years. Virat was also part of the RCB frachise back when Ross represented them. They both played in the final of 2009 IPL, while also representing them in the Champions League (CL) final twice.

Former teammates also join – The video posted by Cricket New Zealand also included Ross’ former teammates Brendon McCullum, Craig McMillan, Tim Southee and many more. Ross had a stellar career during which saw him win the ICC Test Championship, while he was also part of the New Zealand squad that ended as runners-up in 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cup.

Guard of Honour and family’s presence – While Ross was playing in his final ODI; his family wasn’t sitting back as they made their presence fell. Ross’ wife and children attended the occasion as he made his final appearance. Ross was given a special guard of honour by the two teams on Monday as he bowed out in honour.
