In addition to calling out for Messi in an attempt to unsettle Ronaldo, Al-Ittihad supporters took it a step further by imploring their club to sign the Argentine World Cup champion. This was not the first instance of such behavior, as back in January when Ronaldo initially joined the team, Al-Ittihad fans also attempted to distract the five-time Ballon d’Or winner with Messi chants.
The Portuguese star was kept off the scoreboard for the second game in a row, and his teammates were unable to emulate the late-game heroics of the 3-1 triumph over Al Batin, so the game lacked the intensity of past Al Nassr meetings.
