Incidentally, Mrinank was arrested by Mumbai police earlier this month for duping a businessman of Rs 6 lakh. The Saket court in Delhi issued a notice to Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai where Mrinank was sent.
“In January 2021, Mrinank told Pant and Solanki that he had started a business of buying and selling luxury watches, bags, jewellery, etc. He gave references to several cricketers to whom he claimed to have sold the goods. He falsely represented to Pant and his manager that he could procure luxury watches and other accessories for them at good discounts and very cheap prices,” the complaint said as per Mid-Day.
Rishabh Pant Cheated: What exactly happened?
- As per the complaint, Mrinank produced fake references of several cricketers to pose as a businessman who deals in luxury goods like watches and jewellery at a low price.
- The accused also told Pant that he could resell the luxury goods at a better price.
- Deceived by Mrinank, Pant paid him in excess of Rs 2 Crore to buy several luxury items.
- The DC captain also handed over his Franck Muller Vanguard Yachting Series watch worth Rs 36.25 lakh and a Richard Mille watch worth Rs 62.60 lakh.

However, after Mrinank failed to obtain the goods and was unable to return the entire money, Rishabh Pant made a settlement of Rs 1.63 Crore. But the cheque bounced in February 2021 due to insufficient funds.
“Believing in the story of the accused, Pant handed over a luxury watch and few jewellery items in the month of Feb 2021 to the accused, that were purchased by him for Rs 65,70,731/- (Sixty Five Lakh Seventy Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty One only) for resale (sic),” the complaint added.
