Rinku Singh: GT vs KKR: In one of the most thrilling encounters of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Gujarat Titans in a nail-biting match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With KKR needing 29 runs off the final over, Rinku Singh took the attack to Yash Dayal, hitting five sixes in a row to secure victory for his team. Apart from Rinku’s heroics, it was Venkatesh Iyer (83) who kept the Men in Purple alive despite losing two quick wickets in the powerplay.
At one point, it seemed like the game was over for KKR, as Rashid Khan picked up a hat-trick to put the game back in the Titans’ favour and it seemed like the hosts had done enough to win the match, Rinku Singh had other plans.
The batter smoked Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes as KKR finished the daunting 205-run chase. Rinku returned unbeaten on 48 off 21 balls.
Not just fans but the whole KKR dugout was on its feet after Rinku’s stunning knock. Teammate Venkatesh Iyer hailed the KKR hero and called him ‘Lord Rinku’ for pulling off a win from an almost impossible situation.
“Me and Nitish had a nice partnership and that set the tone. We lost wickets then but thankfully Lord Rinku saved the day. He is a world-class bowler. We still felt we could win the game, though, and that we could chase anything. This teaches us a lesson that we should not give up until the last ball. It will be a great morale-boost for us”, Iyer said after the game.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans had put up a challenging total of 204/4, thanks to fifties from Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudharsan. Shankar remained unbeaten on 63 off just 24 balls, while Sudharsan scored 53 off 38 balls to power Titans to a good total.
