Jude Bellingham’s El Clasico double will cement his position as Europe’s best young player as. Even before his move to Real Madrid, England’s Bellingham was considered the frontrunner to win the Golden Boy title.
However, sources in Spain suggest that Bellingham is a lock to win the prize, which is awarded by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport. According to reports, the midfielder received votes from 95% of media outlets throughout the selection process.
Jamal Musiala, a former Croydon schoolboy who currently plays for Bayern Munich, is Bellingham’s main competition. He may possibly have faced competition from Manchester United’s summer acquisition Rasmus Hojlund and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
However, the Englishman looks to be on track to be named the next Prince of European Football next month. Bellingham annihilated Italy in this month’s Euro 2024 qualifier at Wembley Stadium. He has now scored 13 goals in as many games for Real Madrid.
Bellingham would be only the third Englishman to win the trophy, which is open to players aged 21 and under at the start of the season. This follows in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney in 2004 and Raheem Sterling in 2014.
