Ranji Trophy 2022: Vishnu Solanki loses his father – Baroda cricketer Vishnu Solanki has been going through a tumultuous time. Just days after the death of his newborn daughter, yet another tragedy struck the Solanki household. Vishnu lost his father on Sunday morning. But instead of leaving the bio-bubble, Vishnu Solanki opted to stay back and watched his father’s last rites on a video call at the corner of the dressing room.

“Later, we came to know that his father passed away. Vishnu saw his father’s last rites in one corner of the dressing room, on a video call. It was really tough for him, but the courage he showed has been remarkable,” Baroda captain Kedar Devdhar was quoted saying by Indian Express.

Solanki hit a century on Friday after performing the last rites of his newborn daughter. The courage and his incredible innings have been lauded by many as a player despite his personal tragedy came determined on the field and performed well for his side and even hit a ton.

Though the match between Chandigarh and Baroda was drawn it was quite an eventful game. In the first innings, Chandigarh scored 168 runs. In reply, Baroda played a massive inning when they amassed a huge first innings score of 517 runs. Vishnu Solanki played an incredible inning of 105 runs which consisted of 12 boundaries. Chandigarh struck well, and unlike their first innings, they didn’t crumble easily. The match came to a draw on the fourth day with Chandigarh having scored 473-7.

The insuppressible courage of Vishnu Solanki was praised by Saurashtra keeper Sheldon Jackson. “What an amazing player. He is the strongest of all the players I know. Big salute to Vishnu and his family. It was not easy in any way. I hope you score many centuries and achieve success,” Jackson wrote on Twitter.

A couple of days earlier, Solanki bid goodbye to his newly born daughter who passed away within 24 hours. After performing the last rites he returned to Bhubneswar to play against Chandigarh. Solanki missed the first game of Baroda against Bengal which the former side lost. Solanki, the 29-year-old made his debut in 2015 against Tamil Nadu. He has over 1000 runs in List A matches and over 1500 runs in the First-Class games.
