This could be the most important Ranji season for Ajinkya Rahane. The selectors are not going to select him for the Sri Lanka series, and he was told to go back to the domestic circuit. A proven match-winner, Rahane will aim to get back among runs for Mumbai. KKR picked him up at his base price of 1 crore. A good domestic season and the veteran’s confidence will do a world of good ahead of the IPL 2022 season.

2: Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav has seen been named in the Vidarbha squad for the Ranji season 2022. Like Rahane, the pace bowlers’ indifferent form, coupled with the emergence of the likes of Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Siraj has seen him out of favor. A solid domestic season for Vidarbha will help get his form and momentum back. It will also stand him in good stead ahead of IPL season for KKR.

3: Prithvi Shaw

India batter Prithvi Shaw is the captain of Mumbai for this year’s Ranji Trophy. He is also the opening batter and will look to lead the team from the front. The right-hand batter was earlier retained by DC ahead of the mega auctions. Shaw would look to set the tempo early for Mumbai with his brisk score well. He can win games singlehandedly also. A good Ranji season will help Shaw a lot during IPL 2022.

4: Shivam Dube

India all-rounder Shivam Dube was snapped by CSK for 4 crores in the mega auctions. Dube is not on the reckoning for the white-ball formats. He has performed decently in Ranji and is a regular in the playing XI. Dube though has not quite had a breakthrough season. With India looking at all-rounders, the CSK player would look to perform well with bat and ball.

5: Vijay Shankar

This could be a crucial season for all-rounder Vijay Shankar. Like Dube, he was also given chances in white-ball formats, but he failed to impress. This Ranji season he is the captain of Tamil Nadu. Shankar had a good SMT season and led the team to victory. The all-rounder was picked by Gujrat Titans for 1.4 crores in the mega auction. A good domestic season will help Shankar be in the reckoning for the Titans in IPL 2022.

6: Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi has been a good performer for Utter Pradesh for two years. It is his exploits with the ball that helped him bag an IPL contract. During the mega auctions of IPL 2022, KKR shelled 7.25 crores to get his services. Mavi can bowl above 140 consistently. He also has a happy knack for picking up wickets. Mavi would be a key player for UP during the Ranji season.

7: Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey will be in action for Karnataka during the Ranji season 2022. He is also the captain and a key middle-order batter. Pandey would be eager to prove his point and get among runs in IPL. The right-hand batter was picked by LSG, but there is no guarantee that he would be regular in the playing XI. A good domestic season might help things change for Pandey.

8: Prasidh Krishna

Delhi Capitals (DC) managed to break the bank for Prasidh Krishna and signed him up for 10.75 crores. The lanky pacer’s stocks have been on the rise due to his terrific start to his ODI career. The pacer has also been included in the Karnataka squad for the Ranji season. Prasidh would be keen to among wickets and help Karnataka win matches in the Ranji Trophy.

9: Krunal Pandya

Baroda all-rounder Krunal Pandya is out of reckoning currently for India in the white-ball formats. However, he was still a hot property during the mega auctions. LSG shelled out 8.25 crores to buy him due to his all-around prowess. The southpaw has not had the best IPL for Mumbai Indians for the past two years. Krunal would be hoping to prove his worth for Baroda head of the IPL 2022.

10: Tilak Verma

Mumbai Indians brought Tilak Verma for 1.7 crores during the mega auctions. The all-rounder has performed well in VHT and SMT for Hyderabad. His good show during both the tournaments has also elevated him to vice-captaincy. Verma scored 180 and picked up four wickets in the 2021 season of VHT. He also hit 215 runs at a strike rate of 147.26 in SMT.
