The 37-year-old cricketer has been the focal point of media attention ever since getting axed from the Indian Test team. Saha claimed he was dropped from the team despite being assured of his place in the team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly, whereas he also decided not to play in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

This decision, however, was not taken lightly by the CAB officials, with joint secretary Debabrata Das lashing out at the Shaktigarh-born player for not showing responsibility towards his state team.
“When asked about playing for Bengal, he said, “My body hurts, my legs hurt!” Wriddhi has no responsibility towards Bengali cricket. When he is not in the Indian team, he should play for Bengal. Why didn’t he do that?” Das told the media on Thursday.
He further went on to this “He is not in the Indian team, so why not play for Bengal? Then we have to assume that he has no responsibility towards Bengali cricket. Wriddhi has previously also skipped matches for various reasons. Sometimes he has complained about body aches, sometimes he complained of leg pain.”

On being asked about his views on Saha’s comments on Sourav Ganguly, the joint secretary further added “He should not have done that. What Sourav said to him is a very personal matter. Why say that in public?”
Besides this controversy, Saha also uploaded a screenshot on social media where he exposed how a journalist threatened him for not giving an interview. While BCCI will investigate that issue separately, they are now planning to show cause the player for revealing his talks with board officials to the media.
