PSL 2021 – PCB & Franchises Fight: According to a report by The NEWS, PCB Chairman & few of the PSL franchise owners had a extremely heated arguments over the salary cap for players ahead of the seventh edition of the PSL.
What exactly happened? The argumnet started when PCB Chairman asked the franchsies to increase the player purse before the draft for 7th season.
According to PCB Chairman, ‘this is the only way top players can come & play in PSL”.
Currently the salary cap for each team in $0.95 Mn. PCB Chairman wanted franchises to increase the player purse to $1.2Mn. The proposal did not go down well with the PSL franchise owners.
The report quoted soruces in PCB said Ramiz Raja got very irritated with that and was quoted as saying – “PSL is our home and you guys are intruders,” a source inside the board quoted the PCB chairman as saying. “You have destroyed [the] windows and doors of our house.”
The franchise owners were completely taken aback by such statement and immediately hurled back the abuses.
Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omer replied that PSL existed because of the franchises. “We are the investors of the league,” he said. “We have six successful seasons of the league and it is our home.”
When will be the 7th edition of PSL will be played? The seventh edition of the league is all set to begin in mid-January next year, with drafts of the league expected to take place in the second week of December.
What will be the player purse for the 7th edition of the league?
The franchises, after a detailed argument with the PCB chairman, managed to keep the salary cap at $0.95 million for the PSL. This clearly means purse is not getting increased for now.
