Sagar – Tamil Thalaivas
Sagar, who is just playing his second season of the PKL is having an excellent year with the Tamil Thalaivas. He has currently accumulated the joint-highest tackle point in the league. Under the guidance of the experienced Surjeet Singh who is leading the team, Sagar has emerged as the team’s best defender. He has so far earned 54 tackle points and also has has the most number of High 5s in the season (7). He was retained ahead of the auction this year and he is proving why the team backed him by displaying his excellent tackling skills this season.

Jaideep – Haryana Steelers
Haryana Steelers’ defender Jaideep is enjoying a terrific debut in the Pro Kabaddi League. He is currently the joint-highest scorer in the defenders table, having scored 51 tackle points. Jaideep has emerged as the team’s best defender despite the presence of the experienced Surender Nada. The team struggled initially in the season but Jaideep’s contribution in the defence has been immense and now raiders Vikash Kandola and Rohit Gulia have stepped up in offence too, as the team is placed in the Top 4 at the points table.

Saurabh Nandal – Bengaluru Bulls
For Bengaluru Bulls, if Pawan Sehrawat is doing the job in the raiding department, then Saurabh Nandal is the man in charge of the defence. He has done a brilliant job so far for the southern franchise by picking up 47 tackle points. He also has 5 super tackles to his name. Saurabh has an able partner in Aman at the left corner and they are working well in tandem, making the Bulls a potent defensive unit.

Surjeet Singh – Tamil Thalaivas
Surjeet Singh, the experienced campaigner is at his best this season, having picked up 42 tackle points in the season so far. Surjeet also has a good partner in the young Sagar and they have made Tamil Thalaivas, a defence heavy unit. He also picked up two High 5s and 3 Siper tackles. Who can forget his solo super tackle effort against Jaipur Pink Panther’s Arjun Deshwal this year ? Despite Sagar and Surjeet’s brilliant efforts in the defence, Tamil Thalaivas is struggling to seal victories and is languishing at the 9th spot in the points table.

Mohammadreza Chiyaneh – Patna Pirates
Iranian all-rounder has emerged as the star defender for the new-look Patna Pirates. Playing his first PKL season, Mohammadreza Chiyaneh is having a terrific debut. The tall youngster picked up 39 tackle points in 13 matches so far. His solid performance in defence has been very crucial for the Patna Pirates who are currently occupying the third spot in the points table.
