Guardiola claims that he has been following Man United very closely since Ten Haag took over as manager. “I have a feeling that United is coming. Finally, United is coming”, said Guardiola stating that United look like title contenders for the first time in the post-Alex Ferguson era. Guardiola has watched United’s last two matches against Chelsea in the Premier League and against Sheriff in the Europa League. Based on what he has seen, Guardiola says: “I saw yesterday and Chelsea the first half. I thought, ‘I like it’ what I see from United just now. There will be a lot of teams, that is why you have to fight for the Champions League and fight for the title.”
Since Erik Ten Haag took over as the manager of Manchester United, the Red Devils have been pretty impressive in terms of their gameplay, and it shows in their results. Although, they lost 3-6 to Guardiola’s City, Ten Haag’s boys have notched up victories over archrivals Liverpool and table toppers Arsenal. Guardiola feels, Man United’s gradual rise means the competition in the Premier League increases even more and now we have more contenders for the title and Champions League berths.

Guardiola and Ten Haag know each other very well, having worked with each other at Bayern Munich. The Man City boss is certainly aware of Ten Haag’s capabilities and the warning is most definitely not a random one. Similarly, Ten Haag admires Guardiola and would be aware that he has to keep innovating and delivering results to be on par with Guardiola’s side.
