The world came crashing down for 20-year-old Mason Greenwood when his girlfriend Harriet Robson released a series of photos and voice notes which showcased physical assaults on the victim caused by Mason Greenwood.

The Greater Manchester Police took charge of the investigation and visited the houses of both the accused and victim on 30th January. The young England star was arrested by the Police on the following day.
As per the norms, a suspect can only be detained for a span of 24 hours following which they are to be released. However, in the case of violence and physical attacks, the deadline of 24 hours gets extended to 96 hours. Later, Greenwood was released on bail with investigations pending on 2nd February.
In the meantime star English club Manchester United made a statement that Greenwood will not be returning to the team and have been barred from training till the matter has been resolved by the police.

Now the most important question that arises is what lies in the future of Mason Greenwood and till when can Manchester United suspend the player?
Greenwood is yet to make any public statement regarding this incident. Times have been tough for the player after he was unfollowed on the social media platforms by his teammates. Currently, his name from the squad roster of Manchester United has also been removed. Reports suggest that Manchester United has even offered its supporters a chance to exchange their Mason Greenwood jersey with some other player free of cost.
Manchester United is the biggest team in the English Premier League and the Red Devils have maintained their silence on the matter, as this heinous event incurred a major hit on the team’s PR. Greenwood’s name was also missing from the team lost against United’s 5th Round FA Cup tie against Championship side Middlesborough which the team from Manchester lost in the penalties.

As per the rules laid by the contract of the Premier League for Players and the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), the respective clubs can only suspend their players for a span of 14 days. This means that Greenwood would officially be a part of the United team once he serves his suspense of 14 days.

There is however another option for Manchester United, and that is to sack Mason Greenwood. However, a club of this stature is likely to conduct such an affair and pay the remaining of the contract to Greenwood, with the investigations still pending.
Mason Greenwood can be spent a prison time of 3 months if he pleads guilty during the trial. However, this delicate matter looks extremely dull and gloomy for Manchester United. The red team of Manchester would have to decide as to what step they take next regarding Greenwood’s future at the club.
