“We think we should postpone the full round of Premier League games this weekend,” he said on Thursday morning.
“Covid cases are going through the roof at all Premier League clubs, everyone is dealing with it and having problems.
“To postpone this round and also the Carabao Cup round would give everyone a week at least, or four or five days to clean and do everything at the training ground so everything is clean and you break the chain.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s match against Brighton continues to be in doubt. Manchester United have reported more positive coronavirus cases after the squad returned to training.
The Red Devils had shut first-team operations and their training ground on Monday after a rise in coronavirus cases that resulted in Tuesday’s Premier League game against Brentford getting postponed.

There has been no indication as yet that the Blues’ clash with Everton on Thursday is under threat,
Brighton’s scheduled meeting with Tottenham on Sunday was postponed due to a Covid outbreak at the north London club, while Brentford versus Manchester United and Watford’s trip to Burnley were called off in similar circumstances on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

Speaking of the apparent lack of consistency in decision-making, the Brighton boss continued: “You obviously have to think everyone is doing things in the best intentions. There will be frustration with that.
“It would be better if it was more transparent but at the same time you’re talking about medical information so I don’t know how transparent that can be. I think the path we’re on, I’m not sure how long we can stay on it for.”
Similar sentiments were shared by Brendan Rodgers with Leicester’s plea for postponement not being granted.

In the latest round of coronavirus testing, 42 Premier League players and staff tested positive in what was the highest recorded number in a seven-day period since testing began in May 2020.
