Krishnappa Gowtham is a talented off-spinning all-rounder who has been looking for a breakthrough season with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Overall, his IPL figures aren’t very impressive. 13 wickets in 24 matches isn’t a very appealing set of numbers. However, with decent experience now behind him, both of IPL and domestic cricket, the CSK tweaker should get better.
He will have difficulty in getting a place in the playing XI with the likes of Imran Tahir, Mitchell Santner, and Ravindra Jadeja in the squad. However, he may get a chance if the team decides to go for something different and picks a second spinner.
The IPL 2020 season saw Gowtham playing just two matches for CSK. If he gets more games this season, the off-spinner would need to immediately make a big mark.
