PKL 2022 Playoffs: The league phase of the eighth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League came to an end successfully on Saturday after 60 days of intense action. 12 teams indulged in a fierce battle with each other in 132 matches in 60 consecutive matchdays and finally six teams – Patna Pirates, Dabang Delhi, UP Yoddha, Bengaluru Bulls, Gujarat Guants and Puneri Paltan have made it to the playoffs. The Playoffs are set to take place with the eliminators beginning on February 21. The semi-final is scheduled on February 23rd, and the grand finale will take place on February 25th. The league was held this year after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19. For the first time in the history of the league, a bio-bubble has been created and all the matches are being held in one place, which is The Sheraton Grand Hotel at Bengaluru. While the league began smoothly, Covid entered the bio-bubble and disrupted few matches. However, the organisers, Mashal Sports, ensured the continuity and completion of the league with matches on a daily basis without any break with relevant official guidelines.
Now after the successful completion of the league phase, six teams remain in contention to win the coveted trophy. Sive Puneri Paltan and Dabang Delhi finished in the first two places, they have gained a direct entry to the playoffs, while the remaining four teams will battle it out in the eliminator on Monday.
UP Yoddha will take on Puneri Paltan in the first eliminator, while Gujarat Giants and Bengaluru Warriors will battle with each other in the second eliminator. Winners of the eliminator will then face one of the top-2 teams each in the semi-final which is scheduled to be held on 23rd February. The winners of both the semi finals will then advance to the final and will fight for the title on 25th February (Saturday).

Only one location has been selected for this year’s tournament as to cut down on travel which will ensure players and support staff of all the teams staying inside the bio bubble and are exposed to outside entities.

What is the prize money for the winners of the league ?
The winners are rewarded with Rs.3 crore and the runners up receiving Rs.1.8 crore. Each team participating in the semi-finals was allocated Rs.90 lakhs each.
