PKL 2021: From Joginder Narwal to Ravindra Pahal, 6 probable retentions for Delhi Capitals ahead of PKL auction – Dabang Delhi, who is known to have one of the strongest defence in the history of Pro Kabaddi League, will be once again lead by the veteran Joginder Narwal. There are not many superstars on the Delhi side but experienced players like Ravindra Pahal and Meraj Shaykh make them a team to beat. Ahead of the PKL auction, they have the tough task of picking up 6 key players they want to retain.

Before going into the auction, the PKL teams are also expected to exercise their choice of retention of PKL Season 7 squads as per the league policies. For each PKL Season, teams are allowed to retain up to six players under the Elite Retained Players category and up to six New Young Players (NYPs) under stipulated conditions.

We at Insidesport will take you through six players that Delhi Capitals might retain ahead of the auction. 

Vishal Mane

Dabang Delhi’s Vishal Mane is one of the biggest names in the Pro Kabaddi League. In season 7 he played 23 matches and scored 28 points. Overall he has played 128 in which he scored 198. Mane forms the core defence of the Dabang Delhi side. 

Chandran Ranjit

Chandran Ranjit is one of the most consistent riders in the last three seasons of PKL. He has played 64 matches in which he has scored 341 points. He has not out percentage is 75.41 %. He has nine super raids and 2 super 10s to his name. He will surely be retained ahead of the PKL auction by Dabang Delhi.

Joginder Narwal

Veteran Joginder Narwal, who holds the left cover position for Dabang Delhi, will once again be leading the side. Narwal has played 82 PKL matches in which he scored 177 points. He has 10 super tackles on his name and 2 High Fives. His tackle strike rate is 47.26%. He is likely to be retained by Delhi team management. 

Naveen Kumar

Naveen Kumar made his debut in season 6. He was just 20 when he made his debut in PKL. He was the top scorer for Dabang Delhi’s top scorer with 177 points. Naveen carried the same vein in Season 7, emerging as the league MVP in just his second campaign while taking his team to the final. Blessed with explosive speed and cat-like reflexes, Naveen also scored 22 Super 10s in 23 appearances in Season 7. He will surely be retained by Delhi as they have very few raiding options.

Ravindra Pahal

Veteran defender Ravinder Pahal guards the right corner of Dabang Delhi. He was the most successful defender in the second season while playing for Dabang Delhi K.C. where he picked up 64 points from 14 matches. Ravinder Pahal was the best defender of the league in Season 2. Season 5 was the second time he crossed the 50 Tackle Point mark. In Season 7, Pahal crossed the 300-tackle point and was the second-best overall defender of the league at the time. Ravindra Pahal should be retained by team mangement.

Meraj Shaykh

Sharpening both his raiding and defending skills, Iran’s Meraj Sheykh has become one of the finest all-rounders currently playing in Pro Kabaddi. His ability to stay calm under pressure and exploit any small mistake of the opposition makes him a formidable player. Sheykh has led Iran in several international kabaddi events including the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. Meraj Sheykh was the most successful all-rounder in Pro Kabaddi Season 5, scoring 104 points. In Season 5, Sheykh also completed 50 tackle points in the league. Meraj is a veteran in PKL and should be retained by Delhi.
