At the Budapest International Airport, angry Roma supporters pursued and attempted to seize referee Anthony Taylor and his family, prompting the police to hurry them into a private room. When a chair narrowly missed hitting him and his family, the situation nearly turned horrifying.

The final of the Europa League between Sevilla and the Italian team was overseen by the Brit. After a tense 1-1 draw and a 4-1 penalty shootout, the Spanish team was victorious and took home the championship.

Taylor, though, failed to win over many supporters by giving Gonzalo Montiel another opportunity to score the game-winning penalty following Rui Patricio’s intrusion. Additionally, the referee waived away Roma’s pleas for two penalties and denied them two penalty kicks during the game.

Mourinho was furious with the choice and lashed out at the referee in the stadium parking lot after the game, calling him a “f***ing disgrace.” Taylor was then surrounded by club supporters when he arrived at the airport to depart Hungary.

They urgently try to pack him and his family into a private area as he moves through the crowd while being escorted by police, amid the chants of his supporters. As irate fans surrounded him, the episode was described as “chaos Taylor” by Italian media. Taylor looked around uncomfortably when a water bottle was suddenly tossed in his direction, nearly missing a woman who was on the verge of tears.

During Roma manager, Jose Mourinho’s post-game press conference, the Premier League official received criticism for his performance in the final.

Before considering whether to punish Mourinho for his outburst, UEFA is awaiting Taylor’s reports. Taylor issued Mourinho a booking throughout the match as tensions rose on and off the field in a poor final. Thirteen players received yellow cards, including seven Roma players, and the fourth official, Michael Oliver, struggled to maintain control of both dugouts. The game was littered with delays, with a total of 25 minutes’ stoppage time added to the 120 minutes of playing time.
