Chasing 152 to win, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost captain Kane Williamson early but both Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi continued to keep the scoreboard ticking. Tripathi was at his aggressive best scoring runs all around the ground as SRH were cruising through the chase.
Punjab Kings did sniff back into the contest when Rahul Chahar struck twice, removing both Tripathi and Abhishek in successive overs. However, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram bid their time at the crease and built a strong partnership to see their side over the line without any hiccups. Markram eventually finished the game with a boundary and a maximum to remain unbeaten on 41, while Pooran managed 35 off 30 balls.

Earlier, Kane Williamson won his sixth toss in a row as Sunrisers Hyderabad put Punjab Kings into bat who missed captain Mayank Agarwal with a toe injury. The SRH bowling kept an uber attacking side under their clutches conceding just 40 in the powerplay while getting both Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh out.
Jonny Bairstow and Jitesh Sharma also did not last long as Punjab slipped to 62/4. Fortunately, Liam Livingstone continued his rich vein of form and scored a scintillating half-century, with Shah Rukh Khan providing him good company. SRH however pulled things back with some tidy death overs bowling, conceding just 29 from the last five overs. Umran Malik was particularly impressive, picking up three wickets in the final over without conceding any run.
