Bhanuka came to the crease after the fall of Prabhsimran Singh who was caught off the bowling of Tim Southee. The left-handed batter did not take much time to settle as he took the attack to KKR spin bowlers. Rajapaksa smashed three consecutive boundaries to Sunil Narine to help Punjab finish on a high note in the field restrictions. The left-handed batter took just 31 balls to complete his fifty and stroked 5 fours and two maximums in his innings. He perished while trying to clear the field once again on the bowling of Umesh Yadav.
“First of all thanks for the opportunity given to play here. Yes, it’s a new season, and some of them are new faces, I am looking forward to playing for PBKS. Though there are some new faces, the squad is almost the same as last year. Yes, this is my first time in Punjab. Yes, we have to keep travelling across many venues in India but it will be a nice experience. We played a couple of practice games here last week and it was a pretty good track to bat on,” Rajapaksa said before the start of the match.
