Shaheen, who was present at the Dubai International Stadium when India played Pakistan recently, travelled to London for his knee treatment. The PCB wanted him to get the best care in London with the hope the player recovers in quick time.

The medical team has been receiving about his treatment as well. The PCB has been following all the advice of the medical team when it comes to Shaheen Afridi’s treatment.

“The PCB medical team has been receiving daily reports over the knee injury status of Shaheen and we expect the bowler will be there with the national team to play against India on October 23 in the World Cup match,” PCB’s chief executive officer Faisal Hasnain told Dawn.

“From Sri Lanka to London, the PCB has been following the advice of the medical team and if they advise Shaheen to have treatment in the US then the PCB will follow that too.”

Big focus on Shaheen: There is a big focus on Shaheen and his injury in the PCB corridors. With the T20 World Cup being a mega event, they are leaving no stone unturned from their end to ensure Shaheen is fit.

If the player fails to make it to the squad, it is going to be a huge setback. They might have quality pacers, but none of them belong to the same bracket as Shaheen. The left-arm pacer is one of the best new ball bowlers in world cricket. Also, his yorkers during the death overs is an asset when teams look to score quick runs.
