After relocating to the United Kingdom (UK) in 2020, Amir is still one year away from being eligible for a British passport. Consequently, the speculation surrounding his potential debut in the IPL has resurfaced. Recently, the former Pakistani fast bowler himself has expressed his thoughts on this matter.

“I have one year. I don’t know what would be the scenario. I always move step by step. I don’t know where I will be after a year. Nobody knows the future. When I get the passport, I will definitely avail the best opportunity I get,” Mohammad Amir told ARY News.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistani players participated in the first season of the IPL in 2008. However, due to the strained political relations between India and Pakistan, players from Pakistan have been prohibited from competing in the T20 tournament.

Mohammad Amir explicitly stated that he has no plans to return to international cricket and represent England. “I won’t play for England. I have already played international cricket, whatever I had to play, for Pakistan,” the 31-year-old said.

Despite previously announcing his retirement from international cricket due to his dissatisfaction with the team management’s treatment, Mohammad Amir had expressed his wish to make a comeback for Pakistan.

However, circumstances within Pakistan Cricket have evolved since then, and it would be intriguing to see whether the left-arm seamer would contemplate rejoining the team and making himself eligible for selection.
