It was the batting that let New Zealand down in the first ODI. The visitors could score only 255 on a good batting surface in Karachi. None of the top-order batters could get going. With each failure, pressure on Finn Allan is building up as the opener is yet to hit the straps in the ODIs. Williamson has also looked a bit patchy in the 5o-over format. A better batting display is what New Zealand will be aiming to put in the second ODI.

Pakistan ticked the majority of the boxes with Azam, Fakhar Azam, Rizwan, and Naseem Shah performing well. Bowlers Nawaz and Usama Mir supported Naseem well. The hosts would be eager to continue with the same momentum.
