One month of suspension on Twitch for Disguised Toast for streaming copyrighted content- With DMCA strikes being slapped on Twitch streamers for broadcasting copyrighted content, streamers and the community is well aware of the risks involved but the uncertain nature of the ban is alarming. When Disguised Toast received a ban for reacting to the anime “Death note”, no one had really thought that his Twitch ban could be a month-long.

Popular streamer Pokimane was the first to receive a ban for live streaming anime on her Twitch channel. However, she was handed out a 48-hour suspension after which she returned back to streaming. In the case of HasanAbi, he was notified of a DMCA strike for watching MasterChef. Although his strike was later revoked by Twitch admitting that it had “processed the DMCA notification by mistake”. But to everyone’s shock and utter disbelief Toast had to compensate for his actions with a one-month ban.

Toast took to Twitter to inform the community of the duration of his suspension, and in a casual tone wrote, “i’ll be seeing you guys in a month”. Comments, opinions, reactions, memes started pouring in from all corners. A section of the internet was gratified as, according to them, streamers like Toast were pushing the boundaries by streaming copyrighted materials. Nevertheless many considered ‘one month’ a bit harsh punishment on part of the streamer.

Well-known streamers like HasanAbi, xQc, Pokimane, Ludwig, Sykkuno also shared their thoughts on Toast’s suspension, although most of them were surprised at this sudden news. Pokimane couldn’t believe it at first and then jokingly pointed out that Toast would be back within a day or two, but sadly it was not the case. Sykkuno expressed that he was upset with his friend getting banned but he also practically talked about Toast being aware of the dangerous terrain he was in.

Needless to say, Toast’s fans must be having a hard time grasping the reality. Though we don’t have any official news, many are speculating that Twitch is gearing up to slam bans on reaction contents.
