Despite all the efforts from the Manchester Reds, Omonia remained resolute in their defense. The hosts shocked everyone by scoring first against their strong opponents. The 34th minute saw the Omonia team launching a quick counterattack. United’s left-back Tyrell Malacia lost the ball in the midfield and Karim Ansarifard who slotted the ball at the back of the net. United headed into the break with a 1-0 deficit.

The Red Devils regrouped at Half-time which saw Ten Hag implementing some changes. On came Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw in place of Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia. Rashford with a cool and swift turn curled the ball into the back of the net to equalize for the visitors. Past the hour mark, on came Anthony Martial in place of Bruno Fernandes who put the ball into the back of the net a minute late to help United take the lead of the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo who got plenty of chances to score for himself ended up gifting an assist to Rashford who tapped the ball at the back of the net to score his brace and give United a two-goal cushion. Seconds later Omonia attacked heavily and ended up getting a goal. Substitute Nikolas Panagiotou blasted the ball home to score the second goal for his side. In the end, United secured all 3 points and sit in the second spot of the group with 6 points.
