Pakistan boxer goes missing from Olympic qualifiers after stealing money from teammate’s bag

The report suggests that an official complaint has been filed against Pakistan boxer Zohaib Rasheed.

The Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation reported on Tuesday that a Pakistani boxer participating at an Olympics qualifying tournament in Italy has allegedly gone missing after stealing money from a teammate’s bag.

As per a report in the Times of India, Zohaib Rasheed is the culprit, with the federation already brining the matter to the Pakistan Embassy in Italy.

“It is most embarrassing for the federation and country the way Zohaib Rasheed has behaved as he had gone there as part of a five-member squad to take part in an Olympic qualifying tournament,” the national federation’s secretary, Colonel Nasir Ahmed said.

It is noted that Zohaid had won a bronze medal at last year’s Asian Boxing Championships, and was one of the few upcoming wrestlers from the country. The report further suggests that Zohaib stole from female boxer Laura Ikram’s room, when she had gone out for training.
