Basundhara Kings are the reigning champions of Bangladesh Premier League. They won the title last season with an overwhelming margin, losing just one out of 20 matches and winning 18. The team is managed by Óscar Bruzón, who has been with the Bangladesh side since 2018. Brazilian Robinho leads the team this season. The attacking midfielder has been with team for the third season.

Basundhara Kings’ couldn’t carry their great form of the Bangladesh Premier League to AFC Cup. The Robinho led side lost their opening encounter of the tournament 3-1 to Maziya FC. Basundhara Kings weren’t at their best on that day at the Maldives National Football Stadium. and that is something manager Óscar would be looking to avoid on their home turf.
Odisha FC started their ISL season on a positive note, winning their first match 2-0 against Chennaiyan FC. Their winning start was halted in the next match against Mumbai City FC when Des Buckingham’s side scored a late equaliser to salvage a point from the Kalinga Stadium. However, their AFC Cup campaign started on a forgettable note. They succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of fellow ISL club Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The four goals they conceded to MBSG ensured they sit at the last spot of AFC Cup group table through an inferior goal difference. The Indian side will not have Mourtada Fall available for this tie. The Senegalese was shown a red card in the first AFC Cup match against MBSG.
