George Worker has been called in as a replacement player. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead confirmed the news of Chapman testing positive on arrival in Mount Maunganui. He also said it’s very unfortunate that Chapman was infected despite taking all the COVID-19 precautions.
“It’s really unfortunate for Mark and we’re all really feeling for him at this time,” Stead said. “He did the right thing in following the health guidelines and getting tested when he did.”

- Worker, who was last part of the New Zealand side in 2018 would now get an opportunity after four long years to make a mark.
- Stead said he richly deserves a place in the team owing to strong performance in the Ford Trophy.
- It remains to be seen if Worker is in the playing XI as an opener or a middle-order batter
