Taylor had to wait for a long time to bat as Will Young and Martin Guptill put on an absolute show with the bat in hand. Guptill’s wicket for 106 brought Taylor to the crease in the 38th over. The veteran batter started cautiously but failed to find boundaries.

Guptill and Young’s brilliant centuries have put on New Zealand in the ascendancy. The latter also entered record books as he became just the 4th New Zealand batter to reach 7000 ODI runs. Guptill took just 186 innings to get to the landmark.
