But then, SZ Mulani and A Sheth manage to take the game on their hands. They looked in absoliute control of the match. They began to have fun in the middle and score runs at a brisk rate. They began to deal in fours mostly and both of them managed to reach the century.
At the end, Mulani failed to make the opportunity count as he scored 97, and fell short by three runs. Sheth on the other hand completed his ton, and also signalled the end of the game with both captains agreeing with the result.
The major highlight of the game was on the first two day On Day 2, it was one-way traffic as West Zone dominated North East Zone throughout the DAY. Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed a magnificent double century before being dismissed. Returning from injury, Ajinkya Rahane too hit a fine double century as West Zone ended Day 2 with a humongous score of 590/2.

To be fair, such kind of a show by the West Zone players does not come as a surprise. They have all the big names of the domestic circuit in both the batting and bowling department. Compare that to their opposition, Northeast are a bunch of upcoming players in the circuit.
Also, experienced campaigners Jaydev Unadkat delivered with the ball for West Zone, scalping first three wickets of Northeast then. None of the Northeast batters fared well on the day.
