Neymar’s uneven play since his return from the 2022 World Cup, with his most recent performance against Monaco marking a new low, has led PSG executives to make the choice. The 31-year-old reportedly criticised his teammates Vitinha and Hugo Ekitike during the 3-1 loss, and after the game, he got into an argument with sporting adviser Luis Campos verbally.
The player whose record-breaking €222 million transfer fee PSG paid to Barcelona in 2017 is committed to Les Parisiens and has a deal that runs out in 2027. Despite his vigorous lobbying to return to Catalonia two years earlier, Neymar renewed his contract with PSG in 2021. Luis Campos, the recently appointed PSG Sporting advisor, was evidently not opposed to selling Neymar last summer because it would have given Kylian Mbappé the uncontested PSG frontman role he so desperately wants. Now that Mbappé is contracted to PSG through 2025, the Qatari ownership is becoming sick of the Brazilian and wants him gone.

Neymar is not even close to the player he was at the beginning of the season after his devastating departure from Brazil’s World Cup quarterfinal match. In PSG’s first five Ligue 1 games, the former Barcelona star contributed to an astounding thirteen goals. Neymar, though, looked uneasy, impatient, irritated, and unable to dribble past an opponent last week against Marseille and Monaco.
Neymar has a contract with Parc des Princes that runs through 2027, and he has asserted in the past that he is content in Paris. He reportedly has a tense relationship with Kylian Mbappe, another of PSG’s star attackers, and hasn’t exactly been able to live up to expectations over his five years with the team due to concerns about his attitude.
Since then, in 171 games for PSG, he has tallied 117 goals and 76 assists, but his time in Paris seems to be coming to an end. The two Premier League powerhouses Manchester United and Chelsea have previously been connected with the Brazil international, but PSG has not yet received any official proposals for the attacker.
