The duo are expected to fill the giant shoes as the two stalwarts of the Indian cricket team are rested for the T20I series.

  • Harshal Patel of RCB took 32 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 8.14 rpo.
  • Avesh Khan scalped 24 wickets in IPL 2021 with an even better economy of 7.37 rpo.
  • The duo were also part of the T20 World Cup as net bowlers for the first few days of the tournament.
  • They are favourite to dominate New Zealand in absence of Bumrah and Shami.
  • Harshal Patel was brilliant with his knuckle-balls throughout the season while Avesh Khan was rock solid with his swing. The duo will have to prove themselves in the international setup and sub-continent.
  • Patel, 30, has experience of playing 116 T20s with 138 wickets. His partner Avesh has also featured in 48 matches with 65 scalps.

New Zealand will play a T20I series and then follow it up with two Test matches. The T20Is will be played on November 17 in Jaipur, November 19 in Ranchi and November 21 in Kolkata. The two Tests will be played in Kanpur (November 25-29) and Mumbai (December 3-7).
