As per the New York Times, Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka has launched Hana Kuma, a media company in partnership with SpringHill, co-founded by LeBron James. As per the report, Hana Kuma will include scripted and unscripted television series, documentaries, anime and branded content.

Speaking to NYT, Osaka said, “I honestly can’t say if I’ll personally be in anything right now. What excites me is being able to inspire people and tell new stories, particularly ones that I would have wanted to see when I was a kid. I always wanted to kind of see someone like me.”

Hana Kuma continues Osaka’s off-field line of investments, with products from her skincare company, Kinlò being listed on Walmart. She also began a sports representation agency last month called Evolve, which signed tennis star Nick Kyrgios.

The first project with Hana Kuma credits will be a New York Times Op-Doc about Patsy Mink, the first woman of colour elected to Congress. Osaka’s company is also working on unspecified documentary content for Epix, a premium cable channel now owned by Amazon.
