Amidst all odds, this has been one of the greatest and toughest matches that Nadal has fought since the 2008 Wimbledon against Roger Federer. After a 13-year wait since his 2009 victory, and in his 6th Australian Open finals along with coming from a 2 set down game, the Spaniard became the ultimate dream maker in Melbourne.

Barely 2 months ago it was unclear whether Rafa would play in the Australian Open 2022 and now, here he stands on the podium being the only person in the history of the tennis sport to have the highest number of Grand majors.

The 35-year-old Spaniard became the 3rd oldest player in history to win the Australian Open Finals. Fighting against all odds in a game that lasted over 5 hours, Nadal now World No 6 defeated Daniil Medvedev by 2-6,6-7,6-4,6-4,7-5.
